ADULT DEK HOCKEY RULES & REGULATIONS

 

MINIMUM AGE:
A player must be 18 years of age or older to play in the Adult league, unless approved by league.

ROSTERS:
Each team is required to have a MINIMUM number of 12 players. Each team’s roster is to be submitted by the roster submission deadline, usually 1 week prior to the start of the season. If not, the league cannot guarantee team placement for the season. Roster adjustments are permitted after the deadline pending league approval. After your 4th game is played, your team’s roster will be locked for the duration of the season. NO PAY PER GAME PLAYERS. If a player is injured during the first 7 games of the season we can potentially add a replacement player, pending league approval. In this situation the injured player is removed from the roster, he/she cannot be added back, and the replacement player will have to pay a prorated league fee.

COACHES:
Only 2 coaches are permitted to be on the bench and they must be 30+ years old.

SUBSTITUTE GOALIES:
Substitute goalies will be allowed during the regular season. Substitute goalies must be of equal or less skill level than your rostered goalie and approved by the league at least 24 hours prior to your game. A substitute goalie is only permitted to play when the team’s regular goalie is not there. Once a substitute goalie has played 2 FULL games for a team, that player will remain on the team and be prohibited from substituting for other teams in that division. ONLY ROSTERED GOALIES WILL BE PERMITTED TO PLAY IN THE PLAYOFFS (2 FULL games minimum).

PLAYER REGISTRATION:
ALL PLAYERS ARE REQUIRED TO PAY FOR THE LEAGUE BEFORE THEY PLAY. At least 6 players on a team must be registered before each season’s defined roster submission deadline. If not, the league cannot guarantee team placement for the season. IF A ROSTERED PLAYER HAS NOT PAID FOR THE LEAGUE BEFORE THE TEAMS 4TH GAME, THEN THAT PLAYER WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE ROSTER.

EQUIPMENT:
Matching jerseys, ball hockey or ice hockey helmet (face cage is optional, but highly recommended; under 18 must wear a helmet with a full shield or cage), leg pads/shin guards, elbow pads (any kind), ball hockey or ice hockey gloves, hockey stick (NO PLASTIC BLADES), and athletic sneakers. GOALIES: leg pads, blocker, chest protector, hockey goalie helmet, hockey goalie gloves, and goalie stick. NO LACROSSE HELMETS OR SHOULDER PADS.

JERSEYS:
All players on a team must have matching jerseys or shirts with numbers on the back (no tape or markers). If a player forgets his jersey at home, he must wear a matching color. In a situation when both teams are wearing the same or similar color jersey, league will provide alternate jerseys for all All Sportz pinnies.

GAME LENGTH:
Each game will consist of three 10-minute stoppage clock periods.
REGULAR SEASON OVERTIME – 3 ON 3 for a 3-minute sudden death.
PLAYOFF GAME OVERTIME – 5 on 5, 10-minute sudden death (stoppage clock) periods until a winner is determined.

MERCY RULE:
IF A 6 GOAL DEFICIT IS REACHED THE REMAINDER OF THE GAME WILL BE RUNNING CLOCK TIME, UNLESS THE DEFICIT IS REDUCED TO 3 GOALS. IF AN 8 GOAL DEFICIT IS REACHED, THEN THE GAME WILL BE RULED A MERCY/COMPLETED.

PENALTIES:
USA BALL HOCKEY RULEBOOK – ALL SPORTZ HOUSE RULES SUPERSEDE USA BALL HOCKEY RULEBOOK.

TIMEOUTS:
Each team gets 1 timeout (30 seconds) per game.


10 MIN RULE:
THERE WILL BE A 10 MINUTE GRACE PERIOD IF A GOALIE IS LATE TO A GAME, BUT THE TEAM WILL BE CHARGED THEIR TIMEOUT. EXAMPLE: IF A GAME IS SCHEDULED TO START AT 9PM, THEN IT MUST START AT 9:10PM, WITH OR WITHOUT A GOALIE. A 1 MINUTE DELAY OF GAME PENALTY WILL BE ISSUED IF TEAM IS NOT READY TO PLAY AT THE END OF THIS GRACE PERIOD.

MIN. PLAYERS TO START:
A TEAM MUST HAVE AT LEAST 4 PLAYERS, PLUS A GOALIE TO START A GAME.

SCHEDULES:
Teams are permitted to request specific conflict dates (ex. No game on 11/7) and the league will try its best to avoid scheduling games on those dates. Season schedules are posted on the All Sportz website – www.allsportzli.com – Playoff schedules are posted on the website by the 5th week of the regular season. GAMES WILL NOT BE RE-SCHEDULED UPON TEAM REQUESTS.

FORFEITS:
PLEASE NOTIFY THE LEAGUE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE IF YOUR TEAM IS UNABLE TO FIELD A TEAM. IF A TEAM FORFEITS 3 TIMES DURING THE REGULAR SEASON, THEY WILL BE INELIGIBLE FOR THE POST SEASON.

PLAYOFFS:
TOP 3 TEAMS WILL QUALIFY FOR PLAYOFFS IN A 4 TEAM DIVISION. TOP 4 TEAMS WILL QUALIFY FOR PLAYOFFS IN DIVISIONS OF 5-7 TEAMS. TOP 6 TEAMS WILL QUALIFY FOR THE PLAYOFFS IN DIVISIONS OF 8+ TEAMS.

CONDUCT:
Players are required to exhibit good sportsmanship at all times. Profanity towards the officials will not be permitted and could lead to an ejection/possible suspension. Physical threats towards another player, coach, official, or All Sportz employee will result in an immediate ejection from the game and possible suspension. 3 contact penalties in a game will lead to an automatic EJECTION. IF A PLAYER IS CHARGED WITH A MAJOR PENALTY IN THE FINAL MINUTE OF THE GAME, THEN THEY WILL BE GIVEN A 1 GAME SUSPENSION.

SUSPENSIONS:
IF A PLAYER IS SUSPENDED, THEN HE/SHE CANNOT BE INSIDE THE RINK OR COMMON AREA.

PREGAME:
Teams are responsible to bring their own practice balls. PASSING, SHOOTING OR STICKHANDLING OF ANY KIND IN THE COMMON AREA, LOCKER ROOMS, OR ARCADE IS PROHIBITED.

POSTGAME:
There is no outside alcohol permitted inside the building at any time.

PLAYER REGISTRATION:
ALL PLAYERS MUST BE PAID IN FULL BEFORE THEY PLAY. At least 6 players on a team must be registered before each season’s defined roster submission deadline. If not, then the league cannot guarantee team placement for the season. IF A ROSTERED PLAYER HAS NOT BEEN PAID FOR BEFORE THE TEAMS 2ND GAME, THEN THAT PLAYER WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE ROSTER.

ROSTERS:
Each team is required to have a MINIMUM number of 12 players and the maximum roster size is 16 (no maximum in “A” divisions). Each team’s roster is to be submitted to the league by the roster submission deadline, usually 2 weeks prior to the start of the season. If not, then the league cannot guarantee team placement for the season. Roster adjustments are permitted after the deadline pending league approval. After your 3RD game is played, your team’s roster will be locked for the duration of the season. NO PAY PER GAME PLAYERS. If a goalie is injured during the first 5 games of the season a team can potentially add a replacement goalie, pending league approval. In this situation the injured player is removed from the roster, he/she cannot be added back, and the replacement player will have to pay a prorated league fee.

COACHES:
Only 3 coaches are permitted to be on the bench. Coaches who are permitted on the bench must be accompanied by an adult age 30+, and they must wear a helmet with either a full cage or shield on the bench.

Substitute goalies will be allowed during the regular season. Substitute goalies must be of equal or less skill level than your rostered goalie and approved by the league at least 24 hours prior to your game. A substitute goalie is only permitted to play when the team’s regular goalie is not there. THERE ARE NO SUB GOALIES PERMITTED TO PLAY IN THE PLAYOFFS.

Matching jerseys with numbers on the back, ball hockey or ice hockey helmet with full cage or shield (no visors and no lacrosse helmets), leg pads/shin guards, elbow pads (any kind), ball hockey or ice hockey gloves, hockey stick (NO PLASTIC BLADES), and athletic sneakers. GOALIES: leg pads, blocker, chest protector, hockey goalie helmet (pee wee division players can wear regular helmet with cage), goalie gloves, and goalie stick. NO LACROSSE HELMETS OR SHOULDER PADS.

GAME LENGTH:
Each game will consist of three 10-minute stoppage clock periods. Except for pee wee and penguin (non travel) – and Penguin divisions will play 11-minute periods. Clock is running time in pee wee division, but play will be stopped every 2 minutes for line changes, and the final 1 minute of the third period will be stopped time.

REGULAR SEASON OVERTIME – 3 ON 3 for a 3-minute sudden death (no shootout).

PLAYOFF GAME OVERTIME – 5 on 5, one 10-minute sudden death stoppage clock period, then an NHL style shootout. In Pee wee and penguin divisions it is 4 on 4 overtime, no shootout (1st goal wins). Travel shootout death periods before going to a shootout are 3-minute periods.

MERCY RULE:
IF A 6 GOAL DEFICIT IS REACHED THE REMAINDER OF THE GAME WILL BE RUNNING CLOCK TIME, UNLESS THE DEFICIT IS REDUCED TO 3 GOALS. IF AN 8 GOAL DEFICIT IS REACHED, THEN THE GAME WILL BE RULED A MERCY/COMPLETED. Pee wee, penguin, and beaver divisions will be permitted to continue playing, but the stats will be recorded after a game is ruled a mercy.


PENALTIES:

IF A PLAYER IS CHARGED WITH A MAJOR PENALTY IN THE FINAL MINUTE OF THE GAME, THEN THEY WILL BE GIVEN A 1 GAME SUSPENSION.

IF A PLAYER IS SUSPENDED, THEN HE/SHE CANNOT BE INSIDE THE RINK OR COMMON AREA.

PREGAME:
Teams are responsible to bring their own practice balls. PASSING, SHOOTING OR STICKHANDLING OF ANY KIND IN THE COMMON AREA, LOCKER ROOMS, OR ARCADE IS PROHIBITED. All players are required to wear their helmets during pre-game warmups.

POSTGAME:
Players must keep their helmets on until they have left the rink. No passing, shooting, or stickhandling of any kind in the common area, locker rooms, or arcade.
